Martin Whittaker, freelance education journalist

Martin Whittaker is a journalist with over 20 years' experience. He began his career in local and regional newspapers but since 1991 he has been a successful freelance feature writer for national publications including the Independent and Mail on Sunday newspapers.

For the past seven years he has specialised in education, becoming one of the

Times Educational Supplement's most prolific freelance contributors, writing on a range of subjects from further and adult education to teaching overseas, leadership and management and school improvement. He is also a contributor to The Guardian.

Martin has researched and written reports for national education organisations, local authorities and community organisations; he has a passion for education and prides himself on an ability to translate complex issues into plain English.
